Conservation and sustainable development Projects
New Eco Planet Foundation Zanzibar
New Eco Planet Foundation Zanzibar is a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) dedicated to the conservation of nature, by protecting the environment and the local communities that depend on it.
We provide opportunities to its inhabitants, developing Action plans for each region, taking into account all areas of influence and the different stakeholders.
With local population as the basis of the projects, we train and show ways to manage resources more efficiently and sustainably over time. In this way, we empower the people who live in a certain place, so that they can make a better use of their own resources, while protecting the natural environment.

Below we develop the official foundations of the NGO registration
That environmental problems are a global concern, New Eco Planet Foundation Zanzibar is willing to cooperate and support national and international efforts that help improve the health of ecosystems and the local populations that develop in them.
That a quality and safe environment is essential for the correct development of life in all its forms.
Of that we are the generation with the greatest knowledge about the different environmental problems we face.
And the responsibility we have to guarantee an habitable planet for ourselves and future generations.
To put all our effort into guaranteeing the well-being of society through protection against environmental degradation.
PROJECT
RESCUE ZANZIBAR
"Yajayo yanafuraisha - The future is exciting"
Swahili Proverb
Rescue Zanzibar project was born from the desire to improve the quality of life of the local population and the natural environment in which they live. The role of New Eco Planet Foundation Zanzibar is to offer a better livelihood to its people, basing our action plan on sustainable development, faced from many points of view.
The pillars on which this project to rescue Zanzibar is based are: education, ecotourism, local and environmental security, waste management, sustainable fishing and the creation of a legislative framework that supports all of the above.
The Islands of Unguja, Pemba and Mafia have a great wealth of natural, cultural and social resources, and we want to help manage them, in a way that directly benefits their local population and their environment.
With the support of the Government and the National Police Force, the Rescue Zanzibar project will promote the recovery of its ecosystems, and will position Zanzibar as a pioneer in betting on a real sustainable development model, with clear objectives and action plans to achieve them.
We develop an Educational Plan to promote sustainability and respect for the planet through the Humanities and Culture, as a key education for the future.
We provide teaching through scholarships and seminars to Primary, Secondary schools, professors, parents and Vocational training..
We train professionals in different Tourism related jobs, with specific knowledge about the sustainable development of the environment and good practices when carrying out activities in nature.
We create marketing plans and advertising campaigns based on Conservation Tourism to position Zanzibar as a leading international tourism destination.
In this way, we promote tourism in the area, generating greater income for the local population, while protecting the environment.
We encourage the creation of a Nature Protection Service in the local area.
We train local police units in First Aid, Rescue Diving and environmental protection.
By doing so, we increase the safety of the local population, tourists and the natural environment, and guarantee the correct application of environmental legislation and regulation.
We create a Waste Management Plan, with two objectives:
- Removing the waste that exist when starting the project, creating a healthier environment in which the local population can develop and making it more welcoming for foreign tourists.
- Creating Action plans for the future waste management and removal.
We help creating new legislation, action and control plans, to guarantee the correct management of fishing, so that it is done in a sustainable way.
This favours the control of which species and in which amounts can be fished, protecting threatened and key species for the ecosystems.
In addition, this will increase future catches by local fishermen and tourism, by having a more attractive and healthy marine ecosystem.
All of this boosts the local economy, while allowing the regeneration of marine ecosystems.
We promote the creation of environmental legislation and regulations.
We promote the creation of Protected Areas, supported by the legislative framework that guarantees their correct management.
We obtain international certifications that demonstrate quality standards in different areas:
- Environmental, social and economic sustainability
- Natural environment quality
- Water quality
- Environmental education
- Safety

In order to carry out a project of this magnitude, we need the support of people committed to the environment, ecotourism, values and culture of Zanzibar. But above all, we need that they want and believe that positioning Zanzibar as a world benchmark in terms of sustainable development, ecotourism and environmental conservation is possible. This will improve the living conditions of the local population of Zanzibar and they will enjoy a more hopeful future. In order to achieve this, we have met with various personalities and institutions, who have given us their complete support.
