Conservation and sustainable development Projects

New Eco Planet Foundation Zanzibar

New Eco Planet Foundation Zanzibar is a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) dedicated to the conservation of nature, by protecting the environment and the local communities that depend on it.

We provide opportunities to its inhabitants, developing Action plans for each region, taking into account all areas of influence and the different stakeholders.

With local population as the basis of the projects, we train and show ways to manage resources more efficiently and sustainably over time. In this way, we empower the people who live in a certain place, so that they can make a better use of their own resources, while protecting the natural environment.

RESCUE ZANZIBAR

Swahili Proverb

Rescue Zanzibar project was born from the desire to improve the quality of life of the local population and the natural environment in which they live. The role of New Eco Planet Foundation Zanzibar is to offer a better livelihood to its people, basing our action plan on sustainable development, faced from many points of view.

The pillars on which this project to rescue Zanzibar is based are: education, ecotourism, local and environmental security, waste management, sustainable fishing and the creation of a legislative framework that supports all of the above.

The Islands of Unguja, Pemba and Mafia have a great wealth of natural, cultural and social resources, and we want to help manage them, in a way that directly benefits their local population and their environment.

With the support of the Government and the National Police Force, the Rescue Zanzibar project will promote the recovery of its ecosystems, and will position Zanzibar as a pioneer in betting on a real sustainable development model, with clear objectives and action plans to achieve them.

In order to carry out a project of this magnitude, we need the support of people committed to the environment, ecotourism, values and culture of Zanzibar. But above all, we need that they want and believe that positioning Zanzibar as a world benchmark in terms of sustainable development, ecotourism and environmental conservation is possible. This will improve the living conditions of the local population of Zanzibar and they will enjoy a more hopeful future. In order to achieve this, we have met with various personalities and institutions, who have given us their complete support.

Where do we develop the project?

Zanzibar is an autonomous region of Tanzania. An archipelago comprising three main islands: Unguja, Pemba and Mafia. The archipelago is located on the eastern coast of Africa, very close to the equator. This gives Zanzibar a great natural wealth, with an enormous variety of ecosystems, flora and fauna.
